Jammu & Kashmir Government announces Rs.3.50 crore for development of Peer Kho Temple

Jammu, December 31 - Reiterating the Government’s Commitment to upgrade infrastructure at pilgrimage sites across the State to provide adequate facilities to visiting pilgrim tourists, the Minister for Tourism and Culture today announced Rs. 3.50 crore for the development of Peer Kho Temple Cave, a famous pilgrimage site in Jammu.

The announcement was made by the Minister during his visit to Shiv Temple of Peer Kho this morning. The Centre has approved Rs.3.50 crore, project submitted by the State Government of Jammu & Kashmir, for development of the Peer Kho temple besides creation of adequate infrastructure there to facilitate the visiting pilgrim tourists coming from within and outside the State for having darshan of Lord Shiva.

MLA Jammu East, Mr. Ashok Khajuria, former MLA from Jammu, Mr. Yogesh Sahani, Peer Ravi Nath of Shiv Temple, Peer Kho, Director Tourism Jammu, besides other senior officers and prominent citizens accompanied the Minister during his visit.

Under the project also envisages construction of Tourist Reception Centre with dormitory, development and renovation of existing temple, Akhara and amphitheatre, walk ways, bathing ghat on the bank of River Tawi, development of park, view points, toilet block and rain shelter sheds.
The Minister appreciated Peer Rattan Nath and Peer Ravi Nath for donating their land to the Government for creating necessary infrastructure facilities for pilgrims at the site.It was informed that a proposal for development of water park and theme park on banks in Tawi near Peer Kho was already submitted to the Centre for promoting tourism activities in the area. A fresh proposal is likely to be submitted to the Government of India suggesting development of tourist attractions from Sidhra bridge to down hill lock of Bahu Fort. The development of Golf Course, Sidhra would also attract the golfers around the world to visit Jammu.

The Minister also paid obeisance in Shiv Temple and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
