Jammu & Kashmir likely to witness huge
Tourist influx next season.
Jammu, March 04- Following sustained campaign by the Government with regard to showcasing the Jammu & Kashmir State’s tourism potential, Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness a huge influx of tourists from across the Country and abroad during the ensuing tourist season, said Minister for Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir, Nawang Rigzin Jora in reply to supplimentaries on a question by Mr. Mohammad Sharief Naz, during Question Hour, here today.
The Minister said road shows and other publicity campaigns, conducted in ten major cities, under his own supervision , has started bearing fruit as Hotel and House Boat owners in the State were getting advance bookings for the upcoming season. In this regard, he emphasized the crucial importance of peace and tranquility, which he described as a pre-requisite for the success of tourism activities.
Responding to the demand of Members with regard to promotion of tourism in their respective areas of Jammu & Kashmir, the Minister said that a holistic view will be taken while sanctioning Development Authorities to rope in new areas for promotion of tourism.
The Minister also furnished details about the tourism infrastructure developed at Bhaderwah in Jammu & Kashmir state, since the inception of Development Authority there and informed the House that 16 villages, in the constituency have been approved by the Government of India to be developed as Tourist villages in Jammu & Kashmir.
