Singhey Khabab Sindhu festival inaugurated
Leh, Ladakh June 12, 2010 - Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah inaugurated 3-day Singhey Khabab Sindhu festival, here today. He said the festival has proved a huge success and is playing a key role in promotion of enchanting locales of Ladakh region.
Minister of Tourism, Minister of State for Tourism, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Mr. Chering Dorjey and Deputy Commissioner, Leh were also present on the occasion.
Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage and abundance of art forms have attracted a large number of visitors to the region. “Ladakh has a lot to offer and efforts will be made to tap its full potential,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the audience during the inaugural function.
Sindhu festival provides a great opportunity to showcase Ladakh’s tourism potential. The festival will be another attraction for the visitors, who are visiting Ladakh in large numbers.
Welcoming the Chief Minister and other guests, CEO, LAHDC Mr. Dorje said the Sindhu Festival is proving a great boon for domestic and international arrivals to Ladakh every year.
Later, a colourful cultural programme in which diverse folk dances of the State were presented was also organized.
