Historic Sudh Mahadev Mela (Festival) concludes
Over 25,000 devotees pay obeisance
Udhampur (Jammu), 27-June: - Over 25,000 devotees, including men, women and children of all faiths visited 3- day annual Sudhmahadev Mela that started this year on Jyeshtha Purnima (full moon ) of Bikrami Era and paid obeseince at the historical Temple of Sudh Mahadev.
The Mela, which concluded today was thronged by devotes from across Jammu & Kashmir state who participated in the religious activities. The devotees took bath in the Beenisangam called Budhisudhi rivulet, which flows down from the top of the Dhar Shivgarh considered an abode of revered saints. There is a belief that those who took bath at the spring (Pap Nashni bowli) situated just at the entrance of the Sudh Mahadev temple get rid of all evils.
Local folk artist hailing from surrounding areas turned up in large numbers and performed cultural programmes during the Mela, highlighting various aspects of local religious faith, with special reference to Lord Shiva. Cultural artists from various parts of the state also visited at the Mela and entertained the visitors.
For the successful culmination of the three-day festival, the district administration of Udhampur had made elaborate arrangements of security, drinking water and power supply, Medicare, traffic regulation, besides making available additional bus services and sufficient stock of commodities.
