Srinagar Airport closed for repairs
Flights operate from Awantipora smoothly
Srinagar, September 03- The Srinagar International Airport was closed today for a fortnight to carry out repairs of the runway, officials said. All commercial flight operators would now carry out their operations from south Kashmir's Awantipora Air Base of the Indian Air Force, 25 km from here, until the runway is repaired. This is an alternate arrangement till Srinagar remains closed.
The flights were operated hassle free from Awantipora airport as per schedule today. The administration had put all the arrangements in place to facilitate the passengers.
According to a spokesman, passengers are checked in at Srinagar Airport and transported to Awantipora airport for boarding in the flights to different destinations.
Meanwhile, he clarified that no passenger should directly report at Awantipora airport as checking of luggage and frisking of passengers has to be necessarily carried out at Srinagar Airport. |
