Unfavourable weather conditions expected in the next 24 hours on both Baltal & Chandanwari routes to
Shri Amarnathji Shrine
Srinagar (Kashmir), July 3 – Reviewing the movement plan for the Yatris for 4th July, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Mr. R. K. Goyal, disclosed that as per the latest meteorological reports reaching the Shrine Board this evening, indicate that very heavy rains are expected to lash the entire Yatra area along Baltal and Pahalgam routes and besides, snow fall in the higher mountains along the Yatra routes.
In this context, he stated that a decision about further movement of Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2011from Jammu and the Base Camps at Baltal and Pahalgam (Nunwan) will be taken in the early hours of 4th July after assessing weather conditions along both the routes. It has been raining in the Yatra area almost every day since the Yatra began
The CEO appealed to the Yatris, who are stranded at various places, not to insist on any forward movement towards the Holy Shrine or the Base Camps, in view of the obtaining adverse weather conditions. He reiterated that the Shrine Board’s endeavour at all times is to ensure a smooth, safe and secure movement of the devotees while on pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Shri Amarnathji.
Before embarking on the pilgrimage, the pilgrims have been advised to check information on weather conditions made available on the website of the Indian Meteorological Department for weather in Jammu and weather in Srinagar.
The CEO has once again appealed to all those who intend to undertake the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji to complete the necessary registration formalities and obtain a Yatra Permit before embarking on the pilgrimage to avoid facing inconvenience on arrival in the State. He reiterated that the pilgrims must embark on the Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2011 strictly as per the dates and the routes specified in their Yatra Permits, clarifying that instructions had been issued to ensure against any unregistered Yatri being allowed to proceed towards the Holy Cave, under any circumstances.
It was further disclosed that so far eight Yatris have lost their lives in the Yatra area, due to Cardiac failures. In this context, the authorities reiterated that the Board has, time and again, issued a detailed advisory of Do’s and Don’ts for the Yatris visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji, which are also printed on the reverse of the Yatra Permit and, besides, available on the Board’s website. He said that the Yatris need to strictly adhere to these Do’s and Don’ts, as they have to undertake an arduous trek through high mountains under adverse weather conditions.
