Shri Amarnathji Yatra stopped on Chandanwari route due to Heavy Rains
Srinagar (Kashmir), July 7 - Due to heavy rains this afternoon along Chandanwari route, the forward movement of the Shri Amarnathji Yatris towards the Holy Cave Shrine had to be suspended for six hours in the interest of the safety and security of the Yatris.
According to Mr. R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, as the movement of the Yatris and the weather condition were being monitored on continuing basis, the Yatris had to be advised against moving forward from Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panjtarni around 1200 hrs today and those in transit were advised to reach the nearest Camps at Sheshnag, Panjtarni and Baltal. Meanwhile, the Yatris who had already arrived at the Holy Cave, were safely returning to Baltal and Panjtarni, till the reports last came in.
The CEO further stated that about 20,000 Yatris had paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine by today evening.
