Shri Amarnathji Chhari Pujan performed at Pahalgam
Srinagar (Kashmir), July 15 - As per the tradition & rituals of Shri Amarnath Yatra, the Chhari Pujan (Holy Mace of Lord Shiva) was performed by Mahant Deependra Giri Mahraj, at Pahalgam on the auspicious occasion of Vyas Purnima.
Accompanied by a large number of Sadhus devotees, the procession carrying Holy mace, led by Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of Chhari-Mubarak Swami Amarnathji, left Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar early in the morning for Pahalgam where first the Bhoomi Pujan was performed which was followed by Navgreh Pujan, Chhari Pujan and Dhawajaarohan (flag hoisting ceremonies). Puja was performed with recitation of Vedic Mantras and blowing of conch shell.
On return, Holy dip of silver mace of Lord Shiva was performed at the historic Martand temple at Mattan in Anantnag district of Kashmir. The Chhari Mubarak was given a rousing reception by the devotees and office bearers of Martand Tirath Trust.
The holy mace will be taken to historic Shankaracharya temple on July 30 on the occasion of Haryali Amavasya, Mahant Ji announced.
Meanwhile, the unabated rush to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amaranthji continued even today. Despite the bad weather conditions, rains and slippery track over 16,000 pilgrims left for cave shrine situated at 13500 feet height in South Kashmir. According to official sources 11,689 pilgrims left the Nunwan-Chandanwari base camp while 5,245pilgrims left Baltal base camp this morning for Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji. With this the number of pilgrims performing darshan of Shi Lingam at Shri Amarnathji has crossed 4 Lakh mark.
The officials said the pilgrimage to the Holy Cahve Shrine of Shri Amarnathji has been going on smoothly from traditional Pahalgam while it remained suspended from the Baltal route due to slippery conditions and bad weather. However yatra was resumed from Baltal route after a delay of more than three hours.
The CEO Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), has reiterated his advice that all those who intend to visit Shri Amarnathji Shrine Cave should, in their own interest, ascertain the up-to-date weather conditions of Yatra area before embarking on the pilgrimage, in view of the generally cloudy sky with rain and thundershowers expected during the next five days in the Kashmir Division.
He said according to the Met Department forecast today July 17 will be generally cloudy with light rain and thundershowers, and light rain at isolated places is likely on July 18 and 19, in the Kashmir division.
