Shiv Khori Festival inaugurated
Shiv Khori, Ramsoo (Jammu) February, 19:-The inauguration of the famous Shiv Khori Mela was marked with chanting of prayers coupled with religious festivity at Shiv Khori about 130 kms from Jammu here today.
The three-day Mela is being organized by Shiv Khori Shrine Board, J&K District Government Administration Reasi and J&K State Tourism Department. On the inaugural function procession was also taken out in the town up to Darshani Deodi carrying Palanguin of Lord Shiva followed by large numbers of religious cultural troops of Reasi District amidst touching “Jai Bole”.
The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal who is Chairman of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi (Vice Chairman, SSKSB) Mrs. Sheetal Nanda, Director Tourism, Mr. R. S Mehta, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Mr. Atul Goel, Board Members including Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, senior officers of all other departments, prominent citizens of Ransoo town and thousands of people were also present on the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, gave details of various developmental activities taken up in the area mainly include construction of Bus stand on 64 kanals of land, survey of cable car, construction of conference hall at Ransoo, installation of solar lights on the 3-km track, widening of Kanda-Ranoo road, beautification of Ransoo Baazar. He also disclosed that about 61,000 plants of different varieties have been planted in the area to give this area a green cover.
The District Development Commissioner, Reasi appreciated the role of Katra people for their coordination for the successful conduct of inaugural function.
The district administration Reasi have made all elaborate necessary arrangements which include security, drinking water, power supply, Medicare facilities with ambulance, sanitation, fire services, yatra slip counter with announcement counter by the Information department and provision of blankets.
The Cultural Academy presented composite cultural programme on the occasion. Besides various social and religious organisations have arranged free langers for the visiting pilgrims at various locations of the base camp and enroute the cave shrine.
